On Saturday 3 February 2024, three Juniors from Unit 113 attended the ALA Southern Division Juniors Training Meeting in Nashville TN. Sienna, Lilia and Vivian enjoyed a day full of fun and interactive activities. The girls and other Juniors from the Southern Division sang songs, danced, filled hygiene bags for Veterans, participated in various team building activities, painted rocks, received information about the various scholarships available, and had a visit from a Therapy dog and her handler. The girls had a blast. They received a t-shirt and earned a Patch for attending. We would like to again thank Comcast for their generous donation to Unit 113 Juniors Program, allowing these girls to attend their first National Meeting. Also, three Senior Auxiliary members attended the Mission Training held at the same location in Nashville. There was no singing or dancing at the Mission Training, but we learned a lot! It was a great day.

Today 10 February 2024 was Hardin Unit 113 Juniors Meeting day. Before our meeting started we had a visit from a reporter from the News Enterprise who spoke to me and several of the Juniors present. We watched a video on proper Flag folding technique, then we all practiced folding the Flag. The three Juniors who attended the ALA Southern Division Juniors Meeting in Nashville this past weekend spoke about what they did and how they enjoyed the experience. With President’s Day being this month, we reviewed early American history, from Christopher Columbus bringing the pilgrims to America, to the 13 original colonies (the reason we have 13 stripes on the flag), reviewed where DC is on the map and who the Presidents were… past and present..etc Then we played President’s Day trivia! We signed birthday cards for our Veterans in the RVC. And for our leadership activity, we played Simon Says, which gave us all a good laugh. The meeting ended with some chocolate goodies in honor of Valentine’s Day. The Legion held an open house today and we did have several families with children who stopped in to see what the Juniors are all about. Again I do thank my parent helpers who assisted with flag folding and photography! Much appreciated! These Juniors are Rockstars!!

Hardin Unit 113 Juniors spent Saturday 2/24/24 morning/ afternoon sorting bags and bags of plastic bottle caps for a Buddy Bench. Four Juniors and one young SAL helped sort thousands of caps! Abby, Lilia, Vivian, Sienna and JC enjoyed an afternoon of fellowship and camaraderie as they sorted caps… they chatted and giggled and sang songs as they sorted. They enjoyed a lunch together, then sorted the last few bags of caps. A big thank you to Education Chairman, April Morgan for inviting us to her home to assist! Thank you to parent helper Laura for helping as well! Thanks to Abby for leading the Pledge. Great teamwork Hardin 113 Juniors!
